Periodontal disease

Periodontal disease is a disease that affects and destroys all of the supporting tissues of the teeth (gums, cement, periodontal ligament and alveolar bone) leading to their swaying and falling. Today, periodontal disease, in addition to caries, is the most common disease in people, and statistics show that about 95% of the population over the age of 18 have some form of periodontal disease.

It is caused by excessive creation of bacteria which, if not removed regularly, create plaque that eventually turns into tartar. Therefore, we recommend tartar removal twice a year at our dental office where we use the best and most advanced methods – the removal of tartar by an ultrasound machine.

Professional cleaning is done by a licensed dentist. This service is of equal importance to the health of your teeth as the daily oral hygiene using floss.

Why to remove the plaque on time?

Professional training on the adequate oral hygiene and the use of specialized ultrasound machine once or twice a year achieves:

  • Preventing gingivitis, which can lead to periodontal disease, which causes loss of bone around the teeth, the teeth loosening and eventually their removal.
  • Removing stains on the teeth (pigmentation) caused by the consumption of coffee, cigarettes and colored drinks, which contributes to a beautiful and radiant smile
